Frequently asked questions

What is SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops used for?
SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops are used for the temporary relief of nasal congestion (stuffy nose) in children. This congestion can be caused by the common cold, upper respiratory allergies like hay fever, flu, or sinusitis.
How does SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops work?
This medicine contains Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride, which is a nasal decongestant. It works by constricting and narrowing the small blood vessels in the lining of the nasal passages. This action reduces swelling and blood flow in the engorged nasal area, thereby promoting drainage, improving nasal ventilation, and relieving the feeling of stuffiness.
What is the usual dosage for SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops?
For infants, the usual recommended dose is 1 drop into each nostril twice daily. For children below 6 years of age, the usual recommended dose is 2-3 drops into each nostril twice daily. It is important to use this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor and not to exceed the recommended dose.
What are the possible side effects of SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops?
Common side effects may include a local stinging or burning sensation, sneezing, dryness of the mouth and throat, and irritation of the nasal lining. Prolonged use of these drops can lead to rebound congestion (worsening of nasal stuffiness) and drug-induced rhinitis.
Is SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
The safety of using SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops during pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Therefore, it should only be used when clearly indicated, and caution is advised for nursing women.
Can SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops be taken with other medications?
Clinically significant drug interactions can occur if SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops are administered concomitantly with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), tricyclic antidepressants, beta-adrenergic agents, methyldopa, reserpine, and veratrum alkaloids. It should also not be taken simultaneously with other decongestants like diphenhydramine, phenylephrine, or pseudoephedrine. Always consult your doctor before using it with other medications.
What precautions should be taken when using SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops?
SINAREST-PD Nasal Drops should be administered with caution in patients with conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), coronary artery disease, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland), or diabetes mellitus. To prevent the spread of infection, avoid sharing the same pack of nasal drops with multiple people. Prolonged use should also be avoided, as it can worsen symptoms and lead to rebound congestion.
