Frequently asked questions

NOSIKIND-P NASAL SPRAY by MANKIND-PHARMA DIV is a medication primarily used to relieve nasal congestion. It contains Xylometazoline, a decongestant, and some formulations may also include Sorbitol as a moisturizing agent.

Here are some frequently asked questions about NOSIKIND-P NASAL SPRAY:

What is NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray used for?

NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray is used to provide temporary relief from nasal congestion (stuffy nose) caused by various conditions such as the common cold, sinusitis, hay fever, and allergic rhinitis. It can also help alleviate nasal discomfort associated with dryness.

How does NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray work?

The active ingredient, Xylometazoline, works by narrowing the small blood vessels in the nasal passages. This action reduces swelling and inflammation of the mucous membranes, thereby clearing the nasal blockage and making breathing easier. Some formulations also contain Sorbitol, which acts as a moisturizing agent to reduce dryness and irritation.

What is the usual dosage for NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray?

The dosage should be used as directed by your doctor. Typically, for adults and adolescents aged 12 years or above, the recommended dosage is 1-2 sprays into each nostril, 2 to 4 times a day. It is generally advised not to use the spray for more than 5 to 7 consecutive days to prevent rebound congestion.

What are the possible side effects of NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray?

Common side effects may include a temporary burning or stinging sensation at the application site, dryness in the nose, nasal discomfort or irritation, and sneezing. Other possible side effects can include headache, increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, and dizziness. If side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Is NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding due to limited safety data. It is crucial to consult your doctor to discuss the potential risks and benefits before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray be taken with other medications?

You should inform your doctor about all the medications, supplements, or herbal products you are currently taking to avoid any potential interactions. Caution is advised when using NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray with certain medicines, especially monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or if you have recently stopped taking them (within the last two weeks).

What precautions should be taken when using NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray?

Avoid prolonged use of this nasal spray (typically more than 5-7 days) as it can lead to rebound congestion, where nasal stuffiness recurs or worsens. Use with caution if you have underlying medical conditions such as heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorders (hyperthyroidism), glaucoma, an enlarged prostate gland, or liver and kidney diseases. It is not recommended for children below 12 years of age without a doctor's recommendation.

What happens if a dose of NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray is missed?

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray be stored?

NOSIKIND-P Nasal Spray should be stored at room temperature, away from excessive heat and direct light. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets. Do not use the bottle for more than 28 days after opening it, and ensure it is not used past its expiry date.
