Description
ERGOMONT A TABLET
ERGOMONT A Tablet is a combination medication manufactured by Ergos Life Sciences, primarily prescribed for the management and prevention of various respiratory conditions.
Composition Each ERGOMONT A Tablet contains a combination of two active ingredients:
- Acebrophylline (200mg)
- Montelukast (10mg)
Uses ERGOMONT A Tablet is indicated for the treatment and prevention of the following medical conditions:
- Asthma: Helps prevent and control asthma symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing, and chest tightness by relaxing airway muscles and widening air passages. It is not intended for acute asthma attacks.
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): Manages COPD, including emphysema and chronic bronchitis, by relieving airflow obstruction and reducing airway inflammation.
- Allergic Rhinitis: Alleviates symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever), such as sneezing, itching, runny nose, and nasal congestion, by blocking the action of leukotrienes.
- Bronchitis: Used for the relief of inflammation in the airways during bronchitis episodes.
- Exercise-Induced Bronchospasm: Helps prevent breathing difficulties caused by sudden tightening of airway muscles during physical activity, particularly in asthma patients.
Dosage and Administration The dosage and duration of ERGOMONT A Tablet should be strictly as advised by a healthcare professional, based on the severity of the condition and patient response.
- The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, without chewing, crushing, or breaking it.
- It can be taken with or without food, but taking it at a fixed time daily, preferably in the evening, is recommended to maintain consistent medication levels.
- Do not discontinue the medicine without consulting your doctor, even if symptoms improve. For sudden asthma attacks, a fast-acting inhaler should be kept handy as this medicine is not for acute relief.

Frequently asked questions
What is Ergomont A Tablet used for?
Ergomont A Tablet is primarily used to treat and prevent various respiratory conditions in adults, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis, and allergic rhinitis (hay fever). It can also help prevent breathing difficulties caused by exercise-induced bronchospasm.
How does Ergomont A Tablet work?
This medicine contains two active ingredients: Acebrophylline and Montelukast. Acebrophylline acts as a bronchodilator, which relaxes the muscles and widens the airways of the lungs, making breathing easier. It also has mucolytic properties, helping to thin and loosen mucus, and possesses anti-inflammatory effects. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks certain natural chemicals (leukotrienes) in the body that cause inflammation, swelling, and narrowing of the airways and nose.
What is the usual dosage for Ergomont A Tablet?
The dosage and duration of Ergomont A Tablet will be determined by your doctor based on your specific condition and how you respond to the treatment. It can be taken with or without food, but it is recommended to take it at a fixed time each day for consistent effectiveness. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not chew, crush, or break it. Ergomont A Tablet is not recommended for children below 18 years of age.
What are the possible side effects of Ergomont A Tablet?
Common side effects may include headache, sore throat, cough, vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea, heartburn, runny nose, rash, itching, drowsiness, restlessness, abdominal pain, nasal inflammation, flu-like symptoms, elevated liver enzymes, dizziness, and fatigue. Most of these side effects are temporary and usually resolve over time. However, if any side effects persist or worsen, you should contact your doctor. Serious side effects are uncommon but can include upper respiratory tract infection, fever, irritability, bad or vivid dreams, sleepwalking, depression, suicidal thoughts, confusion, and hallucinations; report these to your doctor immediately.
Is Ergomont A Tablet safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Ergomont A Tablet is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy as it may cause harm to the unborn baby. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you might be pregnant, you must consult your doctor before taking this medicine. For breastfeeding mothers, there is limited information on the effects of Ergomont A Tablet. It is advised to consult your doctor to determine if it is necessary and safe to use while breastfeeding.
Can Ergomont A Tablet be taken with other medications?
Yes, Ergomont A Tablet can interact with other medications. It is crucial to inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, or herbal products you are currently taking or plan to take to avoid potential interactions. What precautions should be taken while using Ergomont A Tablet?
Ergomont A Tablet is not intended for use during a sudden or acute asthma attack; a fast-acting rescue inhaler should be used in such emergencies. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing conditions such as heart, liver, kidney, or lung diseases, neuropsychiatric disorders (like seizures or depression), phenylketonuria, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, or viral infections. Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if your symptoms improve. It may cause dizziness and drowsiness, so avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you. Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it can worsen drowsiness and reduce the medicine's effectiveness.
What happens if a dose of Ergomont A Tablet is missed?
If you miss a dose of Ergomont A Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.
