Frequently asked questions

What is Softdrops Liquigel used for?

Softdrops Liquigel is primarily used to provide temporary relief from symptoms of dry eyes, such as burning, irritation, and discomfort. It can also soothe eyes irritated by factors like wind and sun. Additionally, some formulations may lubricate and re-wet soft and rigid gas permeable contact lenses.

How does Softdrops Liquigel work?

Softdrops Liquigel acts as an artificial tear or ocular lubricant. Its active ingredients, typically Carboxymethyl Cellulose and sometimes Glycerin, work by mimicking natural tears. Carboxymethyl Cellulose forms a protective, viscous layer on the eye's surface that helps to retain moisture and provide long-lasting lubrication. Glycerin, when present, acts as a humectant to further help retain moisture and protect the eye surface. This action prevents the drainage of natural tears and increases their retention time, thereby reducing dryness and discomfort.

What is the usual dosage for Softdrops Liquigel?

Softdrops Liquigel is typically used as needed. The usual dosage is 1 to 2 drops instilled into the affected eye(s) as directed by your doctor. If you are using other eye medications, wait at least 5-10 minutes between applications to prevent dilution of the medicine.

What are the possible side effects of Softdrops Liquigel?

Common side effects may include visual disturbances (such as blurred vision), eye discharge, redness, eye irritation, burning sensation, discomfort, eyelid swelling, and itching. These symptoms are usually temporary and often resolve on their own. However, if any of these side effects persist, worsen, or become bothersome, it is advisable to consult your doctor.

Is Softdrops Liquigel safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Information regarding the use of Softdrops Liquigel during pregnancy and breastfeeding is limited or unknown. It is generally advised to consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.

Can Softdrops Liquigel be taken with other medications?

Softdrops Liquigel is not known to have severe drug-drug interactions. However, to avoid dilution or potential interactions, it is recommended to wait at least 5-10 minutes before applying any other eye medication in the same eye. Inform your doctor about all other medications you are currently taking, especially if you have conditions like glaucoma.

What precautions should be taken while using Softdrops Liquigel?

Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the drops. To prevent contamination, do not touch the tip of the dropper to your eye, eyelids, or any other surface. If you wear contact lenses, it is recommended to remove them before instilling the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience temporary blurred vision after using the drops until your vision is clear. Discard the bottle within 4 weeks of opening. Consult your doctor if irritation persists or worsens after 3 days of use, or if you develop an eye infection.

What happens if a dose of Softdrops Liquigel is missed?

If you miss a dose of Softdrops Liquigel and remember it soon, instill the drops as soon as you recall, provided the next scheduled dose is more than 4 hours away. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not use extra drops to make up for a missed dose.

How should Softdrops Liquigel be stored?

Store Softdrops Liquigel at or below 25°C to 30°C in a clean, dry place. Protect it from direct sunlight and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date or more than 4 weeks after opening the bottle.
