Frequently asked questions

What is TRAPIC MF Tablet used for?

TRAPIC MF Tablet is a combination medicine primarily used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia) and menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). It can also help manage severe blood loss, inflammation, swelling, fever, and migraine headaches.

How does TRAPIC MF Tablet work?

TRAPIC MF Tablet contains two active ingredients: Tranexamic Acid and Mefenamic Acid. Tranexamic acid is an anti-fibrinolytic that helps the body's natural blood clotting process by preventing the breakdown of fibrin, thus reducing excessive bleeding. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) in the body that cause pain and inflammation.

What is the usual dosage for TRAPIC MF Tablet?

The dosage and duration of TRAPIC MF Tablet should be as advised by your doctor. It is typically taken two to three times a day during your menstrual period. It is recommended to take the tablet whole with food to avoid stomach upset, preferably at the same time each day for optimal results.

What are the possible side effects of TRAPIC MF Tablet?

Common side effects of TRAPIC MF Tablet may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, headache, stomach pain, nasal congestion, tiredness, and musculoskeletal pain. If any side effects persist or worsen, it is advisable to consult your doctor.

Is TRAPIC MF Tablet safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant, it is important to consult your doctor before using TRAPIC MF Tablet as there is limited safety data available, and animal studies suggest potential harm to the developing baby. For breastfeeding women, the components of TRAPIC MF Tablet can pass into breast milk, so it is advised to consult your doctor to discuss the benefits and risks.

Can TRAPIC MF Tablet be taken with other medications?

TRAPIC MF Tablet can interact with certain medications. It is crucial to inform your doctor about all medicines, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements, you are currently taking. For example, taking it with certain anticoagulants (like warfarin or heparin) or other NSAIDs (like ibuprofen or naproxen) can increase the risk of bleeding. Birth control medications may also interact, potentially worsening side effects.

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking TRAPIC MF Tablet as it can increase drowsiness and the risk of stomach bleeding. Exercise caution while driving or operating machinery as the medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart problems, a history of blood clotting disorders, epilepsy, or asthma before starting this medication.
