Frequently asked questions
Here are frequently asked questions about OSMODROPS EYE DROP (10 ML) by CIPLA HEALTH LIMITED:
What is Osmodrops Eye Drop used for?
Osmodrops Eye Drop is primarily used for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with dry eye disease, such as burning, irritation, and discomfort. It can also be used as a protectant against further irritation, often caused by factors like wind, sun exposure, or prolonged screen time.
How does Osmodrops Eye Drop work?
Osmodrops Eye Drop contains a combination of Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and Glycerin. Carboxymethylcellulose works by increasing the viscosity of tears, helping them stay on the eye surface longer. Glycerin acts as an ophthalmic demulcent, forming a soothing film that lubricates the eye's mucous membrane surfaces. This dual action helps to restore moisture and provide temporary relief from dry eye symptoms.
What is the usual dosage for Osmodrops Eye Drop?
The typical dosage involves instilling 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye/s as needed, or precisely as advised by your doctor. It's crucial to follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding the dose and duration of use.
What are the possible side effects of Osmodrops Eye Drop?
Common side effects can include temporary burning, stinging, irritation, eye pain, redness, itching, eye discharge, and blurred vision. These minor side effects usually resolve on their own. However, if you experience severe eye pain, changes in vision, or persistent redness and irritation, discontinue use and consult your doctor immediately.
Is Osmodrops Eye Drop safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Osmodrops Eye Drop is generally considered safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding when prescribed by a doctor, as its systemic absorption is negligible. Nevertheless, it is always advisable to consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
Can Osmodrops Eye Drop be taken with other medications?
If you are using other eye medications, it is recommended to maintain a minimum gap of 15 minutes between the application of Osmodrops Eye Drop and other eye drops. Always inform your doctor about all prescription, non-prescription, and herbal supplements you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
What precautions should be taken while using Osmodrops Eye Drop?
Osmodrops Eye Drop is for external ophthalmic use only. To prevent contamination, avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any other surface, and replace the cap tightly after each use. Do not use the solution if it appears colored, cloudy, or has changed in appearance. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before instilling the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience temporary blurred vision after using the drops. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any components or if an eye infection develops.
What happens if a dose of Osmodrops Eye Drop is missed?
If you miss a dose, instill the drops as soon as you remember, provided the next scheduled dose is more than 4 hours away. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply extra drops to compensate for a missed dose.
