Description

AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE

Name: Airz F Inhalation Capsule (Brand); Common names include combinations of its active ingredients.

Composition: Each capsule contains Formoterol (12 mcg) and Glycopyrrolate (12.5 mcg). Formoterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA), and Glycopyrrolate is a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA).

Uses: AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE is prescribed for the long-term maintenance treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It helps to relax and widen the airway muscles and reduce inflammation and secretions, thereby making breathing easier and improving overall lung function. It is not intended for the relief of sudden breathing problems or acute COPD flare-ups.

Dosage and Administration: This medicine is for oral inhalation use only and must not be swallowed. It should be used with the Airz inhaler device. Typically, it is taken twice daily, with doses approximately 12 hours apart, preferably at the same time each day. Patients should inhale the powder deeply into the lungs and rinse their mouth with water after each use to prevent throat irritation and oral infections. The first dose should be taken under medical supervision.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include dry mouth, cough, throat irritation, headache, nasopharyngitis, nausea, and dizziness. More serious, though less common, side effects can include paradoxical bronchospasm (sudden worsening of breathing), urinary retention, and increased heart rate.

Precautions: Inform your doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions such as heart problems (arrhythmias, hypertension), diabetes, narrow-angle glaucoma, kidney or liver disease, seizures/epilepsy, thyroid gland problems, or low blood potassium levels. Caution is advised during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and alcohol consumption should be avoided as it may increase dizziness. It is contraindicated in patients with severe hypersensitivity to milk proteins or any components of the capsule.

Storage: Store the capsules below 25°C or 30°C in their original package to protect from moisture. Do not remove the capsule until immediately before use. Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE by GLENMARK PHARMACEUTICALS LTD. is a combination medicine used for the long-term maintenance treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is not intended for the relief of sudden breathing problems or acute COPD flare-ups.

Here are some frequently asked questions about AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE:

What is AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE used for?

AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE is used for the long-term maintenance treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This includes conditions like chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It helps to manage airflow obstruction, reduce symptoms like wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath, and improve overall lung function and quality of life for people with COPD. It is not for sudden asthma attacks.

How does AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE work?

AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE contains two active ingredients: Formoterol and Glycopyrrolate. Formoterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, causing them to widen and making breathing easier. Glycopyrrolate is an anticholinergic that works by decreasing secretions in the airways. Together, these medicines help to improve airflow and reduce breathlessness.

What is the usual dosage?

AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE is for inhalation only and should not be swallowed. It should be taken at the same time each day, usually twice daily, as prescribed by your doctor. The specific dosage and frequency will depend on individual factors such as the severity of your COPD and your response to treatment. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage. The first dose should be taken under medical supervision. After using the inhaler, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out to help prevent throat irritation and oral infections.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects of AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE can include dry mouth, sore throat, cough, headache, indigestion, nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), chest pain, fever, sinus inflammation, inflammation of the nose, and urinary tract infection. Other reported side effects include high blood pressure, increased glucose levels in blood, back pain, oropharyngeal pain, nausea, muscle spasms, dizziness, and insomnia. Most side effects are temporary and usually resolve over time. If any side effects become bothersome or persistent, consult your doctor.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Pregnancy: AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby, although limited human studies exist. It is crucial to consult your doctor, who will weigh the potential benefits against any risks before prescribing it during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding: AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding as limited human data suggests the drug may pass into breast milk and harm the baby. Long-term use might also reduce milk production. Consult your doctor for guidance.

Can it be taken with other medications?

Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal remedies. Interactions may occur with other bronchodilators, anticholinergics, or beta-agonists. Medicines like monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants may increase the risk of cardiovascular effects. Beta-blockers can interfere with the bronchodilator effect. Diuretics may enhance potassium-lowering effects.

What precautions should be taken?

Do not use AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE for sudden breathing problems or acute asthma attacks; use a quick-relief inhaler for such situations. Inform your doctor if you have any infections in your mouth or lungs, heart problems (including arrhythmias or hypertension), seizures, thyroid gland problems, diabetes, narrow-angle glaucoma, kidney or liver disease, low blood potassium levels, or difficulty passing urine due to conditions like prostate enlargement. The first dose should be taken under medical supervision as it may cause wheezing or tightening of the airways immediately after use. Avoid consuming alcohol as it might increase dizziness.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you miss a dose of AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should it be stored?

Store AIRZ F INHALATION CAPSULE in its original packaging at room temperature, ideally below 30°C or between 10°C and 25°C. Protect it from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the container tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use the capsules after the expiry date.
